We get to meet the most interesting people through our love of flowers! Today, I’m thrilled to introduce you to Jessica Bethel, a Fine Art Floral Photographer from Atlanta, Georgia. Jessica cites the charm of having fresh flowers in the home everyday as the inspiration behind her artistry. Her photos are printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag fine art paper made completely from cotton and are available for purchase directly from Etsy or the Serena and Lily Art Collection. Recently, I asked Jessica to share a bit about her business and how she found her floral niche. Enjoy her beautiful images and then (to make your hump day just a little bit sweeter), Jessica has a special surprise for BB readers at the end of this post!

BB: How would you describe the style of your photographs?
Jessica: Modern, happy and elegant! I go for a look that is both cheerful and bold. I have so much fun taking the pictures and I try to reflect that in the photographs.
‘Edith’ by Jessica Bethel
BB: How did you decide to focus on floral fine art prints?
Jessica: It’s what I love! I’ve always been a huge fan of floral art and I started experimenting with my own art last year. I work for a floral and event designer in Atlanta doing their marketing. I was always taking photos of the beautiful flowers in the studio and one day I just started playing and editing the images in a way that spoke to me. I love the feel of Hahnemühle photo rag paper and when I decided to start printing the images it was a perfect fit.

BB: What does a typical day look like for you as a floral fine art photographer?
Jessica: Typically on weekends when I’m taking photos I wake up early, go to my favorite floral wholesale shop, sit on my back porch with a cup of tea, put my radio on oldies and just have fun with it!
‘Georgia Peach’ by Jessica Bethel
BB: Where do you find the flowers you use in your photographs?
Jessica: The flower wholesale store, completely randomly out when I least expect it, or even Whole Foods.
‘Lindsey’ by Jessica Bethel
BB: How do you choose the blooms you photograph?
Jessica: When I’m shopping for flowers I usually have a color palette in mind and just choose what’s most fabulous to me. My favorite flowers have lots of petals, texture and bold color.
‘Marie Antoinette’ by Jessica Bethel
BB: What’s your favorite flower?
Jessica: My favorite flower is hands down a garden rose. I’m always finding different varieties, one more beautiful than the next and the fragrance is incredible. Right now my favorite is the ‘Beatrice’ David Austin rose.
