Episode 120: Francoise Weeks

Botanical Brouhaha Turns 4!

I don’t know where to start, how much to say or how to adequately thank you all for reading BB over the last 4 years. What started out as a simple birthday gift to myself to help me feel connected to the flower world has turned into so much more. Writing BB has become an insatiable desire to provide encouragement and inspiration to designers and flower lovers. I have people ask me all the time how I can continuously come up with new ideas for posts and be consistent in posting each weekday. The truth is…I could come up with multiple posts per day because you provide me with a never-ending supply of innovative designs.  I can’t imagine ever tiring of the joy I experience while looking at the artistry you create. I’m constantly amazed by the flowers grown by flower farmers and the designs created with the stems. But, most of all, I’m amazed by the relationships that grow among “flower people”. Over the last 4 years I’ve witnessed an outpouring of love and concern for one another in this community that has caught me off guard at times. Rather than being competitors, many of you have become allies and friends. You’ve connected with designers in areas hit by natural disasters to see how you could help. You’ve traveled to other states and cities to assist one another when a large event required extra help. You’ve supported one another during times of loss, divorce and illness. You’ve celebrated together as you’ve started new businesses, been published for the first time, welcomed a new baby or taught your first workshop. You’ve banded together to execute the dream of flower philanthropy envisioned by a fellow designer. You’ve shared “trade secrets” with one another openly in order to see your fellow designer succeed. I’m just honored to be a part of your world! Thank you for making my life so much richer.

And because today is also my birthday, I thought it would be fun to send myself some virtual flowers! Enjoy…
