Lisianthus (Eustoma)

Here’s one of my favorite flowers…

I love the buds as much as I love the open blooms…

jhjhj flowers on mars…a favorite color palette…you can really appreciate the delicate lisianthus buds in this arrangement…

I’ve used Lisianthus many times and almost always have someone mistake the open blooms for roses. The only two drawbacks to using lisianthus for me…they’re ethylene sensitive (which means they sometimes arrive in less than perfect condition) and the stems have a tendency to snap when handled too much. Nothing too problematic…

Anyone wire and tape lisianthus in wedding designs (bouquets and bouts)? I usually do…better than having the bloom snap off a boutonniere!

Think I’ve Had This Dream…

Have you ever had a dream where you’re in public and realize you’re not wearing clothes? I consider that a nightmare. Then there’s this picture…which would be a nightmare for me…but makes me smile…because, obviously, these people think nothing of standing there in bikinis while everyone else is in formal wedding attire…

Ok, tell me…would you stand in your bikini and watch complete strangers get married? If so, you must look a heck of a lot better in your bikini than I do…

This photographer rocks…don’t you think?

Freeform Vignettes And Centerpieces

…as least that’s what I call these multi-piece beauties. Only a talented designer with an artistic eye can create one of these successfully…otherwise it looks like you just stuck a bunch of stuff on a table…

Do you prefer the uncluttered look of a single centerpiece or the fullness of a multi-piece centerpiece?

Favorite Blogging Moments From Last Week

1. Writing the ‘Which Bouquet?’ post suggested by a special reader and having so many amazing comments. You all really thought through your decisions and I loved hearing the rationales. Bouquet #2 (Parrot Tulips) was the clear winner! Thanks for playing…

2. Making a new blogging friend…chatting with her on the phone…and having her give me great advice on changing my blogger settings to allow more of you to comment. I can already see that more readers are able to comment…so, if you’ve had trouble commenting on Botanical Brouhaha in the past, give it another try…I LOVE hearing from you!

Thanks Nancy and Janet!
